Bassem Gharsalli, Vice President & Country Manager, Northwest Africa, Mastercard
Based in Casablanca, Morocco, Bassem Gharsalli is leading Mastercard overall business and operations across Northwest Africa region.
In his role, Bassem is responsible for developing and implementing Mastercard strategy across 6 markets (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, and Cape Verde) and leading strategic initiatives to promote financial inclusion and drive digital transformation for Mastercard partners in the region.
Since joining Mastercard in 2015, Bassem has succeeded in building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders within financial institutions, payment processors, switches and regulators and has led the enablement of innovative solutions to meet consumers and businesses needs across the region.
Prior to joining Mastercard, Bassem has held senior roles in the consulting services within the payment industry in France, where he has supported leading European financial institutions on their innovation and transformation strategies to help their management teams on various areas cutting across digital transformation, Organization, Go-To-Market strategies, Technology, and Marketing.
Bassem holds an MSc. Eng. in Computer Science Engineering from the National Graduate School of Engineering, CAEN, FRANCE and an MBA from Imperial College London, UK.
